Getting started
- Check you have the correct equipment and connection - to check the list click here
- Register for the service and click here
Your user name and password will be e-mailed to you at the address you entered but please also make a note of them separately from your computer - Get The Desktop Dial Screen with a click of your mouse button here
- Get a PC Phone handset and plug it into your sound card.

- Now click the Desktop Dial Pad icon, enter your user name and password, press enter and you are ready to make a call

The Desktop Dial screen provides you with a convenient way to dial numbers and monitor call information and statistical displays that appear on the desktop dial screen window
The Desktop Dial Screen is divided into two major parts.
- Call Information screen and Audio buttons
- Dial key pad and Control buttons
The Call Information section of the Desktop Dial Screen displays
call-related data for each call currently in progress.
Call Information is comprised of the following components:

Next to the Call Information screen, the Audio buttons are located. Two types of audio controls are supported

Allows you to control the volume level by adjusting the slider. Increase volume by dragging slider to the right and decrease volume by dragging the slider to the left respectively. To mute volume press the small button next to the Volume control one. When volume is muted the terminal will not send any sound to the user currently logged in |

When microphone is muted the terminal will not send any sound to the user currently logged in. The second part of the desktop dial screen consists of a dial key pad and a set of buttons to the right, where users could check their existing balance, purchase additional calling time, see rate availability, etc.
The second part of the Computer Phone consists of a dial key pad with a set of buttons to the right where users are able to, check their existing balance, purchase additional calling time, and see rate availability, etc.
At the top of the dial key pad are the History and Book controls

![]() The desktop dial screen integrates a full-featured Address Book allowing you to save, modify or delete prospective or current contacts. To display the address book press the Book button from the Graphical User Interface. This will display a drop down list for inserting and selecting address entries. |
Address entries are organised by their name, phone number or group affiliation.
This Icon will add an address entry to the address book when clicked
button ands will display an address entry form for creating a new contact.
To add a new entry, enter the contact's name, phone number or group and
press the Change button.
Added entries may be saved by pressing the
button which
will permanently store an entry in the address book until the entry is deleted.
Note: If you add an entry but do not save it, the entry will be erased once you log out from the application.
6. Modifying an Existing Entry in the Address Book
To modify an entry double-click on the
against the entry's name.
This will display the person's address entry form.

Now, you can edit entry's data as desired. Then click

Once added an address entry could be deleted by
pressing the respective
button after highlighting the entry to be deleted.
Pressing the
button will permanently delete an address entry from the list of available ones.
You can dial a number directly from your Address Book by double-clicking on contact you want to call.
You can shortcut a call by selecting a person you want to call from your Address Book list and it will automatically input this person's phone number into the Call Information screen and place the call.
9. Call History
The History menu allows you to browse through a list of recently received or/and placed calls. The call history contains the last 10 received or placed phone calls.
10. Viewing Call History
To display the call history, press the History button
on
the Computer Phone and this will display a drop down list containing
the last 10 calls you have initiated or accepted.
There are two types of call. The first is "On Net" where the user calls another computer on the internet who is also Computer-Call connected. The second type of call is "Off Net" where the user contacts a standard or mobile telephone
"On Net" calls are made by entering the ID number of the Computer-Call user you wish to call. Remember that if the person you are calling has not switched on and logged on to Computer-Call the call will not succeed (your ID is shown by clicking the id Icon shown on your computer phone screen
"Off Net" calls are made by entering the standard telephone or mobile number of the person you wish to contact. When dialing a number be sure to precede it with the country code (e.g. "44" for the UK). You must also remove the first zero of the area code. Do not precede any country code with an International access code ( e.g. "00" for UK)
To place a call you first have to enter the number of the calling party by dialing on the on screen dial pad and enter a phone number by placing the cursor over the required digit on the dial pad and clicking the left mouse button or by typing the digits using a PC keyboard.
As you compose your number it will appear in the desktop dial pad display.
If you make a mistake press backspace or click
And remove numbers on the screen to the point at which the error occurred;
re-enter the digit then complete the entry of the number.
When done click the
button or press Enter on your keyboard.
When the number entered is being dialed you will see a message displaying "Calling ###-###-####".
Once a connection is established and the called party answers the phone, you can start
speaking into the microphone.
It is possible to cancel the call before the other side has either accepted or rejected the call.
To do so, press the
button.
You can shortcut a call by selecting a person you want to call from your Address Book list.
To do this, click on the
button to display the list of
your contacts and double-click on the party you want to call.
The dial pad will automatically send this person's phone number
into the Call Information screen and the call will be placed.
For an incoming call to be answered, the Desktop dial screen must be running.
Once an incoming call is received, you will have a ringing tone played through the speakers.
You will also be able to see the identity of the caller, which will be displayed on the calling screen.
To accept a call, press the
button.
Alternatively, to reject a call
press the press the
button.
A call is considered finished when either you or the person you are talking to chooses to end the call.
To end a call, click the
button.
If you have set up the system correctly and carried out all the checks in " Getting Started" section of the user guide
- Click on the ICON that you downloaded to your desktop. It is marked with an ORANGE telephone and
- Log into on the system using your user name and password that you noted when you first went to "Register" on Computer-Call web site.
- You will see on the desktop dial pad call status window "registered on the system"
- You will hear no dial tone
- On your first call please adjust your speaker and handset volumes to the maximum
- Dial the country code without any International access
prefix followed by the telephone number you wish to reach
and click the start call button - ( Blue phone Logo)

- If the line is engaged or you have dialed a bad number you will not hear a ringing tone
- If the person you are calling is not available the ring will stop after 6 rings
- To terminate a call click the red telephone button
- Whenever you wish to add a number to your address book click
on the book button on the desktop dial pad and to use a number
simply double click it. To exit the phone book click the X
- To see what calls you have made click the "History" button. If you click any of the entries they will be sent to the call status window
- Click on the book button to access your phone book; click on the import address book button and your outlook phone book will be imported after a short delay whilst loading.
- When you select and click on a number it will automatically dial out
Click on the Rates button on the website for the rates tab on the dialer.
Pick your choice of country to where you wish to make a call.
